370 businesses say YES to future growth
The Victorian Government rates Drake in the top 3 best performers as the Skills for Growth project nears the end of the first year of a 3 year contract on July, 1st.

With 370 clients registered, over 200 business diagnostics and Workforce Action Plans completed for businesses across Victoria and 1,754 vocational and educational training enrolments taken up at May, 31st, Drake Skills for Growth is rocketing along at break neck pace.

The Skills for Growth program is a $52 million Victorian Government initiative to help 5,500 small to medium businesses across Victoria develop strategies for growth, training, and implement better HR and general business practices. The aim of the initiative is to maximise the capacity of businesses and address areas of skills shortages.

“Our client the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development is delighted with the quality and volume we have managed to deliver so far,” said Tracey Farnsworth, Drake Co-ordinator Skills for Growth.

“DIIRD reported a combined total of 8,000 voluntary and educational training enrolments in May, so Drake’s contribution of 1,754 represents 22% of the total figure and we are just 1 of 26 providers,” Tracey explained.

One such organisation to benefit from Drake’s service through the Skills for Growth program is Langdon’s Foods Pty Ltd. Langdon’s registered for the Skills for Growth program and as a result Drake conducted a high level business review and developed strategic plans for their workforce including training plans to address skills shortages for their 60+ employees. Drake facilitated training programmes for staff in Office Administration, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Sales.

According to Tracey it’s the teamwork, communication and a bit fun along the way that makes the project run so successfully.

“Full credit goes to a hard working team at Drake and our team of Specialists who do a fantastic job to deliver first class business diagnostics, workforce development and training plans.”
